Moggill Creek Kids have a GREAT Day Out!
Local kids were very actively involved with their catchment group at the recent ‘Kids Day', held at the Moggill Creek Catchment Group (MCCG) environmental centre.
The Cottage and its grounds proved a perfect place for a range of activities including seedling planting, recycled art and jewellery making, and the painting of plaster geckos and animal jigsaws.
"We were absolutely delighted with being able to host almost 300 people on the day," said Malcolm Frost, MCCG Chairman, "We hope they all realised how welcome they are at The Cottage and look forward to seeing them again soon - at some of our talks, other events, and perhaps even our working bees." The day also included two presentations by Martin Fingland of Geckoes Wildlife (pictured below) which kept the crowd enthralled.
During the morning a number of children took part in special photography nature walks, getting an early start to take part in the MCCG's annual photography competition. Entries (for adults and children) are due on 4th September 2010, "So it's a good time for everyone to get out in the catchment and take some photographs now", said Malcolm. Details and entry forms are now available from the MCCG website.
