Plants in our Catchment
Thanks to information from the Queensland Herbarium and expert input from David Moore and Andrew Wilson, we can now list nearly 1,000 native and exotic plant species identified in our Catchment. If you would like to see a recently updated list click here (171KB xls).
We seek your help
The list includes species and family name, and some details about collection site. The list is 'locked' so you won't be able to change it. However, if you find a plant in our area that you believe is not on the list, please send us the details. For this purpose, we have included a template for you to fill in. You can download the template here (xls).
Headings are:
- Family - plant family Name - genus and species.
- Status - native or exotic Collector - the person who collected the plant specimen.
- Date - date of above.
- Locality - the place where the plant was found. UBD reference is OK. We are not releasing precise details of collection site for general viewing.
- Habitat - e.g. eucalypt woodland, disturbed ground, roadside, heavy shade.
- Geology/Soil - e.g. basalt, alluvium, rocky slope.
- Latitude/Longitude - if you don't have a GPS, borrow ours!
- Det - the person who identified the species. This one is really important to fill in. If in doubt, collect a herbarium specimen and send it to the Queensland Herbarium or give it to somebody on the Committee.
- Det Date - when the plant was identified.
Please send your information to David Moore at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Don't worry if you can't fill in every cell. If your entry is new it will be entered in our Master species list and summarised in our General Access list. Also, where a species on our list has no collection site and you have identified a site where that species occurs, we would like that information too. We intend to update both lists when required - probably about monthly.
