School Success Celebrated - And the Hunt is on for the 2010 Winners
Cr Margaret de Wit attended the recent assembly of Upper Brookfield State School to present the students with the Lord Mayors' Perpetual Schools Shield for their winning entry in the Moggill Creek Catchment Groups' inaugural Schools Photography competition. Fittingly this was also the final assembly of Mr. Bruce Robertson as Principal of the School. This gave Mr Robertson the opportunity to congratulate his students for rising to the challenge of presenting a number of photographs focused on environmental issues that were important to the school.
Sept 6th-11th 2010 Photography CompetitionHurry! Entries are due on Saturday, 4th Sept 2010The annual MCCG photo competition is on again! In 2009 we received 150 entries and gave out over $1500 in prize money. For the first year, a schools section was also included in the competition with the winner, Upper Brookfield State School, receiving the Lord Mayor's plaque. Flood Impact? Platypus Sightings Down Over 50% in 2009 SurveyDespite Riverfire celebrations only the night before, Brookfield was alive with groups of platypus spotters at 5am this Sunday as 49 volunteers went to designated sites along the reaches of Moggill Creek. Sadly this year's survey showed that numbers had fallen from 2008's sightings of 15 as this year only 7 platypus were seen. Moggill Creek Environment Day: Complete with Baby Wombat! The highlight of the Moggill Creek Catchment Group's (MCCG) Environmental Day for many visitors was the wildlife presentation by Geckoes Wildlife Presentations - starring ‘Billy', an orphaned 9-month old baby wombat. Held on 30th August 2009 at the Brookfield Hall, this popular family environmental festival had a wide range of free events and activities. This included a range of kids' activities as well as environmental displays and presentations. |

Local kids were very actively involved with their catchment group at the recent ‘Kids Day', held at the Moggill Creek Catchment Group (MCCG) environmental centre.
