CWCN School Holiday fun!

Our partners at the Cubberla Witton Catchment Network have never fail to deliver on fun holiday activities and this Easter is no exception!

Choose from:

Thursday 11 April 2019 - Who is Robbing the Nest?

Lots of things can happen in nature. Not all eggs survive in their nest. What happens to them? And who would come and destroy them? - Let’s find out by doing an experiment. Young explorers check out how other wildlife behaves by investigation of nests, placed on the ground and into shrubs and trees well before our activity. Will those nests be intact, will the ‘eggs’ survive? - The activity offers a lot for inquisitive young minds. Clues allow us to learn how nature works , who lives where, who feeds on what and what is needed for birds to be safe. - And after we have figured it all out, we’ll create our nests to take home, not for birds but for the Bilby to fill at Easter.

Tuesday 16 April 2019 - Map and Compass Challenge

A fun-filled CWCN holiday activity for the outdoors and for kids who love it fast and green and like a challenge. What better way to explore our local area than through an activi-ty similar to orienteering and with an environmental twist. - Our young participants learn how to understand and read maps and how to navigate. And while finding the way to their given destination via control points, their knowledge and understanding of the surrounding environment is en-hanced. There may well be tasks on the way. Who will master the course without problems? - We’ll take into account that different age groups require different degrees of difficulty. It’ll be a morning full of fun!
